"Savu" in English means "smoke". In (old) Finnish language the other meaning for word ”savu” is actually a "house". In the old times houses were counted from a village by calculating how many smokes you could see rising from the chimneys.
In Northern Sami language the word ”savu, savvon” and in Inari Sami language ”savo, savvoon” mean "quite waters", a slow moving part of a river.
Savu is a peaceful place where the tired traveller can rest and enjoy the "quite waters" after a long hike or ski tour.
