Savu cabin
Enjoy your holiday in the Savu cabin, built in 2009, high quality and spacious log house which is fully equipped for 8 (+2) persons. Savu is conveniently located in Ylläs, close to the centre of the Äkäslompolo village only 1 km from all services: Myllylehdontie 8, Äkäslompolo.
Savu is a member of Ylläs Travel Association. We support the maintenance and development of local ski tracks, snowmobile and hiking routes in the Ylläs Arctic hill area.

For Ylläs newcomers as well as old timers the Savu log house is a first class choice in the new Myllylehto district, just within a walking distance from the centre of the still genuine Lappish village Äkäslompolo. The large windows in the living room towards the Southeast give you a view to the nature just outside the window and to the Keskinen top on the left side of the Ylläs Arctic hill.
After hot sauna (don't worry, you can adjust the temperature - you'll love it) you can rest your eyes on the Kuertunturi hill and relax in the evening sun which shines conveniently to the terrace on the Southeast side of the cabin. Keep your camera ready, reindeers come quite often to the area to feed. If you are lucky you can even see the Northern lights (Aurora Borealis) in the night sky.
In the front yard you can put your cross country skies on and slide to the start of the ski track, just at the corner of the Myllylehto road. The youngsters will easily manage themselves by taking the local ski bus to the Ylläs ski centre: the bus leaves from hotel Ylläskaltio, just 500 m from the cabin. The kids will have a lot of room to play in their own corner at the loft and in the yard building their own snow fort. The district is very quiet and there is no traffic going through the area (except some accidental tourists and reindeers).
If you want a bit more action from your holiday there are a few snow mobile and ATV rental services just 500 m from the cabin. During summer time you can test your limits in the Ylläs Bike Park. You can rent bicycles and mountain bikes from the local companies.

The Master Elf spends several weeks each year with his family in the Savu holiday home enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of Lapland's nature. Part of the time is spent in small maintenance and cleaning tasks. At other times the local companies in collaboration will take care of that Savu will be ready for you so that you can enjoy your holiday without any worries. It is of utmost importance to us that you will enjoy your holiday at the Savu cabin and afterwards you will have the feeling that your investment was worth of it. But please forgive us, for weather even we can not do anything.
Premises
Downstairs fully equipped kitchen, living room with large windows to South (into direction of Ylläs), 2 x bed rooms (with separate beds), 2 x toilet, sauna (the sauna stove made by Mondex will give you a relaxing steam), shower and utility room.
Upstairs 1 x bed room (with double bed), 2 separate beds at the loft, toilet and lot of space. In total 8 comfortable and full sized beds. Two additional mattresses upstairs.
Suits well for a large group up to 8 (+2) persons or even two families. Downstairs 79 m2, upstairs 45 m2 and in total 123 m2. Veranda 16 m2 on the south and west side of the cabin. View to Ylläs and Kuertunturi Arctic hills.
New: 12 m2 warehouse built in 2015 including a separate ski service room equipped with a heater radiator. Ski iron and 2 x ski waxing bench. 4 x snowshoes. Bike which can be used for shopping trips etc. can be found from the warehouse. 2 x power outlet for car heaters. Grill for outdoor use.

Facilities
Heated floor, fireplace made by Hopealoimu, air conditioning.
In living room, kitchen and bathrooms stone floor. In bed rooms and loft genuine parquet floor.
Cooker + oven, cooker hood, microwave oven, fridge/freezer, coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster, blender. Dining table for 8 persons and set of dishes for 10 persons.

Washing machine (+ detergent), drying cabinet, iron and ironing board, vacuum cleaner, hair dryer.
Downstairs 49” Smart 4K UHD TV, 4K UHD Blu-ray player, CD player and stereo. Upstairs 40" HD TV and DVD player. Free Internet access for our customers: fast optical fibre network (100/100 Mbps) shared via WLAN. In case you have e.g. Netflix account you can watch 4K or full HD movies from the TV set downstairs.
Board games and books in the drawer at the loft.
For children
High chair, pot, cot, small table and two chairs for children. Gates both downstairs and upstairs. Kick sledge, sled.

Ylläs
Ylläs is famous of its excellent cross country and down hill ski tracks between seven mighty Arctic fells and Northern lights.
But please do not forget that you will find a lot of activities also during summer and autumn. You can take a long hike from cabin to cabin and spend your nights in Lapland's wilderness or you can take shorter trips using guided paths. You can also go fishing at rivers and lakes, canoeing, collect berries and mushrooms (yes, it is every man's right in Finland), bike (even over the hills), ride a horse or pony and enjoy the unique nature of Finnish Lapland. Restaurants, shops and services are at walking distance from the cabin. On the arrival date you will collect the cabin keys from the key keeper (also property maintenance service) which is located 1 km from the cabin. You do not necessarily need a car.
